Marian Bacol-Uba, better known online as “Marian the Foodie”, has always been ahead of the game. She was one of the first online to use the term “foodie”. She came up with the awesome name “Culinary Escort” for her boutique marketing firm that specialized in food.
When we first talked about this idea, Marian briefed me over the phone about her vision for this firm. She wanted to make sure that the brand was non-gender driven. Her vision was to make it so the logo was a classic and timeless logo. She wanted it simple, but bold.
I tried different comps and failed. I decided to let the inspiration come to me. This is one of the times when my intuition came through for me. I waited for the inspiration, and sure enough, it came at the most random moment…
My best friend, Bea, and I were at Castle 2 in Koreatown eating after going to Do-Over and Lock & Key. Full off of Korean BBQ, I swirled my chopsticks in the dressing that was left over from the salad. All of the sudden it hit me. I scrambled to find a pen before the idea dissipated and came up with this:

One of the logos that I’ve made that I am quite proud of. This logo is simple and smart. The boldness of the logo is sure to stand the test of time.
